A Few Notes for Your Stay
Dunwyck Hall has welcomed guests since 1926, and we ask that you help us carry that tradition forward with the same care the house has always been given.
Arrival & Departure
Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM and we're often able to be flexible with arrival and departure times — just ask. Your door code arrives shortly before your stay begins, and we're always reachable if your plans shift.
The House Itself
Dunwyck Hall is furnished with pieces original to its history — please treat the rooms, art, and furnishings with the same care you would in a home of your own. We ask that furniture and art remain in place. Of the house's seven fireplaces, only the one in the Great Hall is in working order; please treat the others as the historic architectural features they are.
Guests
The private guest wing of Dunwyck Hall is offered to a single party of up to six overnight guests across its three king en-suite bedrooms, together with the house's six historic reception rooms. For larger groups, the Minstrels' Gallery includes a pullout bed that can accommodate up to two additional overnight guests by advance arrangement, with bed and bath linens included. We're also glad to help arrange a visit for a larger gathering during the day — just reach out in advance.
The owners live in a separate wing of the house, close at hand should you need anything, and otherwise out of the way.
Smoking
Dunwyck Hall is a non-smoking property inside the house.
Entertaining
The reception rooms are made for entertaining, and you're warmly encouraged to use them — dinners, drinks after a day at the show, a reception or a fundraiser. We simply ask for no weddings and nothing advertised to the public or ticketed, and that someone from your party is at home whenever your visitors are here.
Pets
We're glad to welcome a well-behaved dog by prior arrangement. Just tell us a little about yours when you enquire (breed, size and temperament), and for any other kind of pet, please check with us first. We do ask that dogs stay off the furniture and beds, and aren't left alone in the house.
Respecting the Setting
The house sits quietly above Columbus, and we ask that guests be mindful of noise late in the evening, park in the designated area (signs will guide you), and take care when exploring the grounds.
Should Plans Change
Tryon show-season and National Horse Show stays are non-refundable, with a 48-hour grace period after booking when arrival is at least 30 days away.
Autumn and winter stays are fully refundable when cancelled 30 or more days before arrival, 50% refundable from 14 to 29 days, and non-refundable within 14 days.
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's stays are fully refundable 60 or more days before arrival, 50% refundable from 30 to 59 days, and non-refundable within 30 days.
